 | Gary Nielsen - Executive
Director Peggy Nielsen - Treasurer
Second Fiddle Ministries is the outcome
of work that Gary and Peggy have been doing together for more than
30 years. Gary is a California native who led the second fiddles in a
high school orchestra and graduated from the University of Washington.
Peggy was born in Columbus, and is an Ohio State University graduate in
Education. Gary was in the business world for many years, most of it in
the electronics industry, including 15 years in marketing management.
His responsibilities led to travel in over 20 countries and contracts
with companies such as Apple, Hewlett-Packard, IBM and Intel. In 1996,
Gary and Peggy joined InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and became the
first InterVarsity staff in the former Soviet Republic of Moldova, where
they pioneered an IFES student movement. It was in Moldova that they met
PEER Servants president Todd Engelsen, and as a result, eventually began
devoting more time to Micro-Enterprise Development. Peggy has been a
teacher in a variety of situations both in the U.S. and abroad, and was
Director of Volunteer Coordination for a Columbus ministry to
international students. She has also has devoted much energy into their
seven children and nine (so far!) grandchildren. |
 | Mary Lou Goldmann -
Director/Secretary
Mary Lou and her
husband Dave have served as witnesses to Muslims for over 45 years, in
both North Africa and Columbus, Ohio. Mary Lou attended Columbia
International University and she and Dave have had Moody Church of
Chicago as a partner for many years. For several years Mary Lou directed
an English as a Second Language (ESL) program for a local church that
engaged a number of volunteers and was an effective outreach to many in
the international community in Columbus. Mary Lou and Dave were both
active in Intervarsity Christian Fellowship at the University of
Illinois and University of Wisconsin, respectively. Mary Lou has always
been interested in mentoring students and has seen the need for helping
folks find viable jobs or develop small businesses in North Africa, so
is happy to be involved with the work of Second Fiddle in campus
ministry and Christian economic development. Dave and Mary Lou have 4
children and 6 grandchildren. |
